Ontario real estate agents use interboard listings primarily to maximize property exposure and reach a wider pool of potential buyers and other agents. This practice is vital for maximizing the seller's potential profit and fulfilling the agent's fiduciary duty to their client. 

Reasons for Interboarding

Ontario's real estate system is fragmented, with many different local real estate boards and no single, mandatory provincial Multiple Listing Service (MLS®) system that all boards belong to (the Toronto Regional Real Estate Board (TRREB), for instance, is separate from the Information Technology Systems Ontario (ITSO) coalition).
